Temperature Dependence of the Local Structure and Iron Magnetic Moment in the Self-Doped CaKFe4As4 Iron-Based Superconductor

F. Stramaglia et al.

Summary: Temperature-dependent X-ray techniques were used to analyze the local structure and magnetic moment of iron in the self-doped CaKFe4As4 superconductor. The results show that the Fe-As and Fe-Fe bond lengths exhibit thermal expansion near the superconducting transition temperature, with the arsenic height from the Fe-Fe plane anomalously decreasing sharply. The Fe K beta XES revealed that Fe in CaKFe4As4 is in the low spin state, and the local magnetic moment decreases significantly across the transition temperature.
