A longitudinal study of a lateral intracranial aneurysm: identifying the hemodynamic parameters behind its inception and growth using computational fluid dynamics

I. L. Oliveira et al.

Summary: The application of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) in studying blood flow in intracranial aneurysms has become popular in the last two decades. Research has shown a correlation between high wall shear stress and high positive WSS spatial gradient with aneurysm inception, while a combination of low WSS and high oscillatory shear index (OSI) may drive aneurysm growth.
