Indoor Air Purification of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) Using Activated Carbon, Zeolite, and Organosilica Sorbents

Shariat Mobasser et al.

Summary: Indoor air pollution is a complex problem that can negatively impact human health. This study evaluated the ability of common materials found in commercial air purifiers to remove volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from indoor air. The results showed that activated carbon had the highest adsorption capacity, followed by organosilica, while zeolite had minimal adsorption capacity. Based on the projections, air purifier filters could effectively remove VOCs for an extended period under normal operating conditions.

Summary: In this study, two different 3D neutral polymorphic frameworks were successfully synthesized by combining 3,6-N-ditriazolyl-2,5-dihydroxy-1,4-benzoquinone with NIR-emitting Er-III ions. These materials exhibit NIR emission properties and field-induced slow relaxation of the magnetization. Among them, 1a is a flexible MOF that undergoes a reversible structural phase transition under mild conditions.
