Antiperovskite Electrolytes for Solid-State Batteries

Wei Xia et al.

Summary: Solid-state batteries have attracted significant research attention in recent years due to their improved safety properties and potential for high-energy density. However, the stability of solid-state electrolytes remains a challenge. Recent progress has been made in exploring new materials, such as antiperovskites, which show promising properties in terms of ionic conductivity and electrochemical stability. The structural flexibility of antiperovskite electrolytes makes them excellent candidates for solid-state battery applications.

Effect of defects and defect distribution on Li-diffusion and elastic properties of anti-perovskite Li3OCl solid electrolyte

Ardeshir Baktash et al.

Summary: The type and distribution of defects in Li3OCl significantly affect the diffusion coefficient, with the highest conductivity achieved in a sample with a regular distribution of LiCl Schottky defects. Introducing these defects only causes minor changes in the elastic properties of Li3OCl solid electrolytes, benefiting the design of high-performance all-solid-state Li-ion batteries.

Alkali-Rich Antiperovskite M3FCh (M = Li, Na; Ch = S, Se, Te): The Role of Anions in Phase Stability and Ionic Transport

Susumu Fujii et al.

Summary: The role of anions in antiperovskites was investigated through theoretical and experimental studies, revealing that replacing polarizable H- anions with ionic F- anions in the M(3)FCh family does not slow down ion diffusion. It was found that the low-frequency rotational modes of the octahedron in cubic M(3)FCh facilitate fast ionic diffusion, showing a correlation between tolerance factor and ionic transport. The cubic iodine-doped Li3FSe exhibited a room-temperature ionic conductivity of 5 x 10(-5) S/cm with a bulk activation energy of 0.18 eV.
