Rare-Earth-Free Magnets: Enhancing Magnetic Anisotropy and Spin Exchange Toward High-TC Hf2MIr5B2 (M = Mn, Fe)

Pritam Shankhari et al.

Summary: The scientific community faces challenges in designing new rare-earth-free permanent magnetic materials (PMM) to replace rare-earth-based PMM. Through a theory-experiment combined approach, researchers have designed new REF PMM materials, Hf2MIr5B2 (M = Fe, Mn), with potential intrinsic PMM properties. Experimental bulk syntheses and magnetic characterizations revealed high ordering temperature and intrinsic coercivity values for these compounds, suggesting their huge potential to create REF PMM.
