Mechanistic approaches to the light-induced neural cell differentiation: Photobiomodulation vs Low-Dose Photodynamic Therapy

Nermin Topaloglu et al.

Summary: This study compares photodynamic therapy (PDT) and photobiomodulation (PBM) in promoting neural cell differentiation. It is found that both modalities are successful at low-level intensities, with PBM at 1 J/cm2 and low-dose PDT at 3 J/cm2 providing the best differentiation profiles. Intracellular ROS production and NO release play pivotal roles in these mechanisms, particularly in low-dose PDT application.

Involvement of substance P, osteopontin and satellite glial cells on photobiomodulation-induced antinociceptive effect in an experimental model of dentin hypersensitivity

Victhor Teixeira de Oliveira et al.

Summary: The research explored the involvement of substance P, osteopontin, and satellite glial cells in the antinociceptive effect induced by photobiomodulation in an experimental model of dentin hypersensitivity. The findings demonstrate that photobiomodulation treatment can reverse thermal sensitivity characteristic of dentin hypersensitivity in rats by inhibiting neurogenic inflammation and inducing a regenerative response.

Comparative Craniofacial Bone Regeneration Capacities of Mesenchymal Stem Cells Derived from Human Neural Crest Stem Cells and Bone Marrow

Akshaya Srinivasan et al.

Summary: Craniofacial bones are primarily derived from ectodermal neural crest stem cells, but current tissue engineering approaches often utilize mesoderm-derived bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells. Research suggests that ecto-mesenchymal stem cells derived from neural crest have potential in craniofacial bone regeneration and could be valuable for future clinical applications.

PWAR6 interacts with miR-106a-5p to regulate the osteogenic differentiation of human periodontal ligament stem cells

Juan Xiang et al.

Summary: This study investigated the interaction between PWAR6 and miR-106a-5p in hPDLSCs and their effects on osteogenic differentiation. PWAR6 acted as a sponge of miR-106a-5p, promoting osteogenesis, while miR-106a-5p downregulation and PWAR6 overexpression enhanced bone formation and mineralization. These results suggest a positive influence of PWAR6 on the osteogenic differentiation of hPDLSCs, with the PWAR6/miR-106a-5p interaction network potentially serving as a regulatory mechanism for hPDLSCs osteogenesis.
