Process modularity, supply chain responsiveness, and moderators: The Medecins Sans Frontieres response to the Covid-19 pandemic

Summary: This research investigates how Doctors without Borders (MSF) employed process modularity during the Covid-19 pandemic to maintain supply chain responsiveness. The results show that process modularity, based on a modular architecture, interfaces, and standards, helped MSF skip time-consuming tasks, relieve bottlenecks, and improve resource allocation. The study also identifies eight moderators, related to visibility, alignment, and resource orchestration, that affect the impact of process modularity on supply chain responsiveness.
