EANM procedure guideline for the treatment of liver cancer and liver metastases with intra-arterial radioactive compounds

M. Weber et al.

Summary: Primary and secondary liver tumors can be treated with radioembolization, and personalized dosimetry helps improve response rates. The decision for radioembolization should be made by a multidisciplinary tumour board based on clinical guidelines.

SIR-Spheres Activity Measurements Reveal Systematic Miscalibration

Stephen A. Graves et al.

Summary: This study aimed to independently measure the activity of Y-90 SIR-Spheres by Sirtex. The primary calibration of the activity was found to significantly underestimate the true activity.

Post-treatment three-dimensional voxel-based dosimetry after Yttrium-90 resin microsphere radioembolization in HCC

Emile B. Veenstra et al.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the dosimetry of post-therapy [Y-90] PET/CT in SIRT-treated HCC patients and predict survival and treatment response. The results showed that higher 3D voxel-based tumor-absorbed dose was associated with better disease control, longer overall survival, and longer progression-free survival.

Personalised versus standard dosimetry approach of selective internal radiation therapy in patients with locally advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (DOSISPHERE-01): a randomised, multicentre, open-label phase 2 trial

Etienne Garin et al.

Summary: This study compared the efficacy of personalized versus standard dosimetry in selective internal radiation therapy for advanced hepatocellular carcinoma, showing that personalized dosimetry significantly improved the objective response rate. The results suggest that personalized dosimetry may enhance outcomes in clinical practice and should be considered for future trials.

Individualised dosimetry and safety of SIRT for intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma

Kathy P. Willowson et al.

Summary: ICC lesions exhibit a dose-response trend similar to mCRC, however, full metabolic response is rare despite high lesion doses. The coefficient of variation of lesion dose may significantly impact response, with EUD correlating more closely with metabolic response compared to D-avg. SIRT in primary liver malignancy is safe in terms of not inducing clinically significant decline in liver function, and low baseline uptake rate is not predictive of a reduction in function post-SIRT.
