This review focuses on the optical studies of Se doped chalcogenide thin films, discussing theoretical and experimental models, promising photonic applications, and the importance of Se-based chalcogenide materials. It also includes a bibliometric analysis and an overview of the research work in this field.
The optical studies of chalcogenide thin films are one of the leading research areas that supports promising photonic applications for future prospectives. In this review, we have covered the commonly considered theo-retical and experimental models for linear and nonlinear optical studies of Se doped chalcogenide thin films along with their use in some promising photonic applications. The importance of Se-based chalcogenide mate-rials as compared to other optical materials followed by a bibliometric analysis of the chalcogenide thin films has been discussed. In the bibliometric analysis, the overview and progress of the research work related to chalco-genide thin films are discussed. To achieve a more detailed idea regarding optical studies, all the linear and nonlinear optical parameters are elaborately discussed. The optical parameters are analysed according to various photo-exposed and annealed chalcogenide thin film studies. A basic overview related to the use of chalcogenide thin film as phase change materials, optical limiters, photovoltaics, and optical switching applications is also discussed. In a nutshell, we have reviewed the research work related to the optical studies of Se doped chal-cogenide thin films that will be essential for further studies and various photonic applications.
