Ceruloplasmin Deficiency Impaired Brain Iron Metabolism and Behavior in Mice

Lijing Niu et al.

Summary: Iron accumulation is an important cause of brain diseases. Ceruloplasmin (Cp) plays a key role in iron homeostasis and its deficiency leads to iron accumulation in various tissues and organs. Although there is no obvious change in iron content in brain tissues, Cp deficiency affects the expression of iron metabolism-related proteins in the midbrain. Furthermore, Cp deficiency impairs the behavioral ability of mice.

A current view on Tau protein phosphorylation in Alzheimer's disease

Susanne Wegmann et al.

Summary: The functions of Tau in the central nervous system are regulated by various posttranslational modifications, with phosphorylation being widely recognized as a pathological hallmark in diseases like AD. However, the similarities and heterogeneity of phosphorylation patterns between physiological and pathological Tau make it challenging to identify specific modifications as therapeutic targets and biomarkers.
