A novel approach to prepare highly oxidized graphene oxide: structural and electrochemical investigations

Justina Gaidukevic et al.

Summary: This research introduces two new modified Hummers' methods for pre-oxidizing graphite powder, resulting in increased oxygen functionalities on graphene oxide (GO) layers. Characterization techniques such as XPS, Boehm titration, Raman spectroscopy, XRD, DLS, and zeta potential analysis were utilized to analyze the GO samples. The study demonstrates that the oxidation degree of GO affects the properties of reduced GO (rGO), and the newly synthesized rGO shows potential as a H2O2 sensor electrode.

Ag/AgCl@MIL-88A(Fe) heterojunction ternary composites: towards the photocatalytic degradation of organic pollutants

Vandana P. Viswanathan et al.

Summary: The paper discusses the efficient integration of a plasmonic photocatalyst with an iron-based metal-organic framework to enhance visible light photoreactivity. The hybrid system shows excellent photocatalytic activity for the degradation of organic compounds under sunlight, attributed to the synergistic effects of surface plasmon resonance and electron transfer.
