Nanocomposites decorated with Gd2O3 and Nd2O3 on ZrO2 nanoparticles were prepared using a green-hydrothermal technique for biomedical applications. The structural analysis revealed the crystal systems of ZrO2, Gd2O3, and Nd2O3. The nanocomposite exhibited higher antibacterial and antifungal effects, as well as efficient antidiabetic activity.
Nanocomposites development for biomedical applications are much interested in the recent years due to their potential activities. Here, the reported Gd2O3 and Nd2O3 decorated ZrO2 nanoparticles were ob-tained via a green-hydrothermal technique and studied for the biomedicinal applications. The structural analysis carried out with the XRD patterns revealed the monoclinic and tetragonal crystal systems of ZrO2, cubic Gd2O3 and hexagonal Nd2O3 crystal systems. Particulate morphology and composite forma-tions were studied with the electron microscopic images. FT-IR studies recorded for the nanocomposite revealed the functional group information of the attained nanoparticles. The higher antibacterial and an-tifungal effect were recorded for the Gd2O3 & Nd2O3 decorated ZrO2 nanocomposite. Also, the nanocom-posite had exhibited the superior performance (76%) in alpha-Amylase inhibition test suggesting the efficient antidiabetic activity.(c) 2022 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
