Molecular structure and catalytic activity of Fe(III) coordination compound with ONO-donor hydrazone ligand in the oxidation of cyclooctene by H2O2

Summary: A new mononuclear Fe(III) hydrazone Schiffbase coordination compound was successfully synthesized and its catalytic activity in the oxidation of cyclooctene by hydrogen peroxide was investigated. The study showed that influencing parameters like temperature, solvent, and the ratio of reagents have a considerable effect on the catalytic activity of the compound. Additionally, UV-Vis spectroscopy revealed new catalytically active species formed by the interaction between the compound and H2O2, serving as intermediates in the oxidation process of the substrate.

Comparable catalytic and biological behavior of alternative polar dioxo-molybdenum (VI) Schiff base hydrazone chelates

Summary: This study successfully synthesized two dioxide-molybdenum (VI) chelates with different polarities and investigated their applications in brominative decarboxylation and biological activities. The results showed that the high polar chelate exhibited better catalytic performance in a water solvent, and the Mo6+ ion played a key role in enhancing the catalytic processes and exhibiting antimicrobial and anticancer actions. Additionally, the interaction between Mo-chelates and ctDNA was determined, and the binding constants and free energy were calculated.

Summary: The catalytic efficiencies of a mononuclear Schiff base iron complex (FeL) and a reduced Schiff base one (FeRL) for the oxidation of alcohols have been assessed experimentally and theoretically. FeRL showed superior performance over FeL, attributed to the higher stability of the Fe-V=O species characterized through density functional theory calculations. FDFeRL, derived from FeRL for surface modification of magnetite nanoparticles, exhibited excellent catalytic activity in alcohol oxidation and could be easily recovered and reused with the help of a magnet.
