Bimetallic Au@Pt Nanocrystal Sensitization Mesoporous α-Fe2O3 Hollow Nanocubes for Highly Sensitive and Rapid Detection of Fish Freshness at Low Temperature

Jiabin Shen et al.

Summary: In this study, a new metal oxide semiconductor gas sensor based on bimetal Au@Pt-modified alpha-Fe2O3 hollow nanocubes was developed for detecting trimethylamine gas. The sensor exhibited faster response time and higher response compared to conventional sensors, and showed promising application prospects in estimating seafood freshness on the spot. The high performance was attributed to the specific hollow morphology with high specific surface area and the synergistic effect of the bimetal Au@Pt.

Ionic liquid([C12mim][PF6])-assisted synthesis of TiO2/Ti2O (PO4)2 nanosheets and the chemoresistive gas sensing of trimethylamine

Dan Zhao et al.

Summary: The architecture of PO43- modified 2D TiO2 nanosheets was constructed using ionic liquids (ILs)-assisted hydrothermal method, and a chemoresistive gas sensor for trimethylamine (TMA) detection was developed. The sensor exhibited high response, short response time, and good reproducibility at a lower operating temperature, showing enhanced gas-sensing properties compared to single-phase TiO2 sensor. The detection mechanism of TMA was investigated through analysis of surface oxygen content and gaseous products after contact with TMA.

Mesoporous WO3 modified by Au nanoparticles for enhanced trimethylamine gas sensing properties

Yunan Wang et al.

Summary: In this study, ordered mesoporous materials WO3 and Au-loaded WO3 (Au-WO3) sensors were prepared using KIT-6 as a template. The Au-WO3 sensor showed better selectivity and higher response to TMA gas compared to the pristine WO3 sensor. With a working temperature of 268 degrees C, the Au-WO3 sensor exhibited a response (Ra/Rg) of 41.56 to 100 ppm TMA with a response time of 1 second, as well as excellent response/recovery capabilities and stability. The high sensing performances are mainly attributed to the electronic and chemical sensitization of the noble metal Au and the presence of a high specific surface area supported by the mesoporous structure, making Au-doped mesoporous WO3 a promising material for high performance TMA gas sensors.
