Crack-resistant σ/FCC interfaces in the Fe40Mn40Co10Cr10 high entropy alloy with the dispersed σ-phase

Donggyun You et al.

Summary: The morphology and size of the a-phase in Fe40Mn40Co10Cr10 non-equiatomic high entropy alloy play a significant role in its mechanical properties. Fine sigma-precipitates can increase strength without severe ductility loss, while coarsened sigma-phase leads to early failure. Controlling the size and dispersion of the sigma-phase to increase sigma/FCC interfaces is essential for developing HEAs with an excellent strength-ductility combination and damage tolerance.

Microstructure and Mechanical Behavior of FeNiCoCr and FeNiCoCrMn High-Entropy Alloys Fabricated by Powder Metallurgy

Chenliang Chu et al.

Summary: This study systematically investigates the phase evolution, microstructure, and microstructure-property relationship of two typical face-centered cubic structured high-entropy alloys FeNiCoCr and FeNiCoCrMn. It was found that the FeNiCoCr alloy exhibits better mechanical performance compared to the FeNiCoCrMn alloy, mainly due to the smaller grain size of the primary FCC phase.

Plastic deformation of single crystals of the equiatomic Cr-Mn-Fe-Co-Ni high-entropy alloy in tension and compression from 10 K to 1273 K

Marino Kawamura et al.

Summary: The plastic deformation behavior of single crystals of the Cr-Mn-Fe-Co-Ni high-entropy alloy has been studied at different temperatures, showing sensitivity to strain rate, temperature, and crystal orientation. Solid-solution hardening is identified as the main strengthening mechanism, with deformation twinning occurring at low temperatures, impacting the material's tensile properties.

A powder-metallurgy-based fabrication route towards achieving high tensile strength with ultra-high ductility in high-entropy alloy

Peyman Asghari-Rad et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates a novel approach to achieve a high synergy of tensile strength and ductility in alloys fabricated by powder metallurgy, using high-pressure torsion and annealing. The results show exceptional tensile properties that have never been achieved before in this field, offering new possibilities for the fabrication of high-entropy alloys and composites.

Mechanical and damping properties of the multi-layer graphenes enhanced CrMnFeCoNi high-entropy alloy composites produced by powder metallurgy

Tao Luo et al.

Summary: In this study, CrMnFeCoNi-based composites with varying contents of multi-layer graphenes (MLGs) were prepared via powder metallurgy. It was found that the addition of MLGs significantly improved the strength and hardness of the composites, with a maximum tensile strength of 762 MPa. As the MLGs content increased, the internal friction of the composites first increased and then decreased, reaching a maximum value of 0.0667.
