Efficient selective methylene blue adsorption by polyurethane/montmorillonite-based antifouling electrospun composite membranes

Summary: A new multifunctional polyurethane/montmorillonite-oxidized multi-walled carbon nanotube (PU/MMT) nanofibrous composite membrane with high flexibility, hydrophilicity, antifouling property, and dye adsorption capacity has been developed. The sample with 20 wt% Mt showed a minimum water contact angle of 57 degrees and exhibited high water flux, oil rejection, and flux recovery ratio. It selectively adsorbed cationic dye methylene blue (MB) from a dye mixture.

Enhanced piezoelectric performance of rare earth complex-doped sandwich-structured electrospun P(VDF-HFP) multifunctional composite nanofiber membranes

Summary: In this paper, the electrospinning of P(VDF-HFP) composite nanofibers with rare earth complex fillers was investigated. The effects of the fillers on the morphology, structure, thermal properties, and fluorescence properties of the composite nanofibers were studied. The mechanical properties, sensitivity, ferroelectric properties, and piezoelectric output of the composite nanofiber membranes used as sensors were also examined. The results showed that the synergistic effect of the double fillers significantly improved the piezoelectric properties of the nanofibers, and they exhibited high sensitivity, high piezoelectric output, and high strain characteristics.
