Statistical modelling of mechanical properties and bio-corrosion behaviour of Mg3Zn1Ca15Nb fabricated using microwave sintering

Ajit Kumar et al.

Summary: By optimizing the microwave sintering parameters of Mg3Zn1Ca15Nb, the study improved the mechanical and bio-corrosion properties of the material. The samples sintered using microwave route showed advantages in bio-corrosion behavior, but still lagged behind in mechanical properties compared to conventionally sintered samples.

Study of the influence of microwave sintering parameters on the mechanical behaviour of magnesium-based metal matrix composite

Ajit Kumar et al.

Summary: In this study, microwave sintering was used to fabricate a magnesium-based metal matrix composite, resulting in increased density and compressive strength with higher sintering temperature and heating rate, but decreased performance when holding time was prolonged.

Effect of ultrasonic assisted sintering on mechanical properties and degradation behaviour of Mg15Nb3Zn1Ca biomaterial

Ajit Kumar et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of ultrasonic power and time of ultrasonic vibration on the sintered density and ultimate compressive strength of Mg15Nb3Zn1Ca fabricated using ultrasonic-assisted conventional sintering. Increasing ultrasonic power led to higher sintered density and UCS, while prolonged ultrasonic vibration time resulted in decreased performance. The composite material exhibited mechanical properties comparable to cortical bone and improved corrosion resistance when fabricated with specific ultrasonic parameters.
