Wavelength (DE)MUX-and-Switch Based on 5.5%-Δ-Silica PLC/Silicon Photonics Hybrid Platform

Keijiro Suzuki et al.

Summary: A novel hybrid integration scheme combining a silicon photonics platform and a 5.5%-Delta-silica planar-lightwave circuit (PLC) platform was proposed, resulting in the fabrication of a high-performance silicon photonics switch butt-jointed with a compact 5.5%-Delta-silica PLC-based 100-GHz 8-channel arrayed waveguide grating (AWG). Experimental results demonstrate the potential of this hybrid platform for compact, low-power, and fast-switching applications.
