Structure and properties of gel-spun ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene fibers obtained from industrial production line

Lingxiao Yu et al.

Summary: The study investigates the structure evolution of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) fibers from different forming stages using various analytical techniques. It is found that the crystallinity and orientation degree of fibers increase with each drawing step, leading to improvements in mechanical properties. Additionally, the formation of monoclinic phase plays a crucial role in enhancing the mechanical properties during the manufacturing process.

Rheological properties of UHMWPE/HDPE blend gels and morphology and mechanical properties of gel-spun fibers

Wenxiao Yang et al.

Summary: In order to produce polyethylene fibers with both high tensile strength and low cost, this research focused on preparing UHMWPE/HDPE blend fibers through gel spinning. The rheological properties of UH blend gels were studied, as well as the morphology and mechanical properties of resultant UH blend fibers. The orientation degree of fibril structure in UH blend fibers increased with draw ratio, impacting the mechanical properties of the fibers.

The effect of shrinkage on the structure and properties of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene fibers with different concentration

Hongqiu Wang et al.

Summary: The study found that interface variation in UHMWPE gel fiber leads to different shrinkage in different directions, with shrinkage caused by the crystallization of UHMWPE chains under interface tension. UHMWPE gel fibers prepared with different solution concentrations have varying chain entanglement points density, affecting the arrangement of UHMWPE chains.
