Evaluating the discrimination ability of proper multi-variate scoring rules

C. Alexander et al.

Summary: This article introduces the application of proper scoring rules in quantifying the accuracy of distribution forecasts, and compares the discrimination ability between energy score and three variogram scores through simulation study. The research design is more realistic, allowing for a comprehensive comparison of the performance of proper scoring rules in different settings.

Predictive Inference Based on Markov Chain Monte Carlo Output

Fabian Krueger et al.

Summary: This paper discusses how to make and evaluate probabilistic forecasts from simulation output in Bayesian inference, developing a notion of consistency based on proper scoring rules. The continuous ranked probability score yields consistent approximations under minimal assumptions. Mixtures-of-parameters approximations utilizing the parametric structure of Bayesian models perform well in this context.
