Strong adsorption properties and mechanism of action with regard to tetracycline adsorption of double-network polyvinyl alcohol-copper alginate gel beads

Summary: Glutaraldehyde was used as a hydrophobic modifier to crosslink polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), while copper ions were immobilized by sodium alginate (SA) in this study. The resulting PVA-CA gel beads demonstrated high adsorption capacity for tetracycline (TC) in aqueous solutions, with a maximum adsorption capacity of 231.431 mg/g under optimal conditions. The adsorption process followed pseudo-second-order kinetic and Langmuir isothermal models, and was found to be spontaneous and endothermic. Additionally, cation bonding bridge reactions were identified as the main driving force behind the adsorption mechanism.

Efficient photocatalytic degradation of sulfasalazine and reduction of hexavalent chromium over robust In2S3/Nd2O3 heterojunction under visible light

Summary: In this study, a novel visible light driven heterojunction photocatalyst of In2S3/xNd(2)O(3) nano-composites was designed and synthesized via a simple two-step process. The prepared materials exhibited efficient photocatalytic activity for the double role photooxidation of sulfasalazine and photoreduction of Cr(VI) under visible light illumination. The enhanced efficiency was attributed to the proper band alignment and intimate interfacial contact in the In2S3/10 wt% Nd2O3 p-n heterojunction, which facilitated better charge separation and transfer. The photocatalyst also showed superior photostability and recyclability.

One-step fabrication of novel MIL-53(Fe, Al) for synergistic adsorption-photocatalytic degradation of tetracycline

Surface Complexation Enhanced Adsorption of Tetracycline by ALK-MXene
