Development of an Alkaline Method for the Determination of Cu, Mo, and Zn in Beef Samples

Fiorella Iaquinta et al.

Summary: An optimized method using tetramethylammonium hydroxide for alkaline sample treatment was validated for the determination of Cu, Mo, and Zn in beef samples from Uruguay. The method involved multivariate experiments, flame atomic absorption spectrometry for Cu and Zn, and electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry for Mo. The results showed statistical equivalence to certified values and total acid digestion, with analytical precision below 8%.

Determination of Cd, Pb and Se in beef samples using aerosol dilution by ICP-MS

Fiorella Iaquinta et al.

Summary: An analytical method for determination of Cd, Pb and Se in beef using ICP-MS was developed and validated in this study. Results showed that levels of Cd and Pb in beef from Uruguay were below international regulations, while Se content was relatively high, contributing to the daily intake of this essential element.
