Allostatic Load and Mortality: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

Haley W. Parker et al.

Summary: This study conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to examine the relationship between high allostatic load and mortality. The findings suggest that high allostatic load is associated with an increased risk of all-cause mortality and cardiovascular disease mortality. Allostatic load shows promise as a prognostic indicator for mortality and should be further studied and standardized.

Mplus Trees: Structural Equation Model Trees Using Mplus

Sarfaraz Serang et al.

Summary: SEM Trees allow the construction of decision trees with structural equation models in each node, creating distinct subgroups based on covariate information. By extending to Mplus, a broader group of researchers can fit a wider range of models efficiently. Mplus Trees algorithm is discussed, along with examples illustrating its practical implementation using publicly available data.

Immunometabolic bases of type 2 diabetes in the severity of COVID-19

Rebeca Viurcos-Sanabria et al.

Summary: The outbreak of COVID-19, caused by SARS-CoV-2, has merged with T2D into a global syndemic. Understanding the immunometabolic factors of T2D that exacerbate the severity of COVID-19 is crucial for identifying high-risk patients and preventing adverse outcomes.

Allostatic load and mental health: a latent class analysis of physiological dysregulation

Summary: This study found that individuals with different profiles of biological dysregulation have different associations with mental health outcomes, with depression being more closely related to metabolic and immune dysregulation and parasympathetic dysregulation.

Model Fit and Comparison in Finite Mixture Models: A Review and a Novel Approach

Kevin J. Grimm et al.

Summary: The challenge of model comparison in the application of finite mixture models is addressed through a review of statistical fit indices and a proposal of a novel approach, LIPpp, to measure the relative improvement in model fit when a latent class is added. Simulation studies show the potential for LIPpp to identify the correct number of classes and provide insights into the magnitude of improvement in model fit. Recommendations and future research directions are presented.
