A Copula-Based Multivariate Probability Analysis for Flash Flood Risk under the Compound Effect of Soil Moisture and Rainfall

Ming Zhong et al.

Summary: This study explores the use of copula function approach for joint probability analyses of flash flood risks, considering the combined effects of soil moisture and rainfall indexes. The results showed that the probability of flash floods increased with increasing risk parameter thresholds, and the return periods of bivariate joint distribution were smaller than those of multivariate joint distribution. Additionally, the occurrence probability of flash floods is higher in regions with higher maximum 1-hour rainfall, when peak flow and soil moisture are fixed.

Direct probability integral method for static and dynamic reliability analysis of structures with complicated performance functions

Xiaolan Li et al.

Summary: A novel approach DPIM is proposed for static and dynamic reliability assessment of structures with complicated performance functions, based on the decoupled computation of probability density integral equation and structural physical equation. By directly solving the probability density integral equation, DPIM efficiently calculates PDFs of static and dynamic responses, improving the efficiency of reliability assessment.

Reliability Analysis of 3D Rockfill Dam Slope Stability Based on the Copula Function

Laifu Song et al.

Summary: The paper establishes a joint distribution model of nonlinear strength parameters using the Copula function for the stability system of rockfill dam slope. An intelligent response surface method is proposed for reliability analysis, demonstrating feasibility and validity. The Copula function accurately describes the correlated, nonnormal distribution characteristics of strength parameters and significantly impacts the reliability of the stability system.

Seismic time-history response and system reliability analysis of slopes considering uncertainty of multi-parameters and earthquake excitations

Rui Pang et al.

Summary: In this study, the impact of uncertain parameters and stochastic ground motions on seismic responses and dynamic failure probabilities of slopes was analyzed using the generalized probability density evolution method (GPDEM). The efficiency and accuracy of GPDEM in complex slopes were validated, demonstrating its high accuracy and validity. Results also indicated that randomness in ground motions has a greater influence than randomness in slope parameters.

A unified analysis framework of static and dynamic structural reliabilities based on direct probability integral method

Guohai Chen et al.

Summary: This study establishes a unified framework for reliability analysis of both static and dynamic structures based on the direct probability integral method (DPIM). By decoupling the physical mapping of structures and probability density integral equations (PDIE), the DPIM is able to obtain the probability density function (PDF) of performance functions. Two approaches are proposed to overcome the difficulty of evaluating first passage dynamic reliability. The established framework shows desired efficiency and accuracy for unified reliability analysis.
