Enhancing the temporal stability of DSSCs with novel vinylpyrimidine anchoring and accepting group

Isolda Duerto et al.

Summary: Three compounds based on aniline, thiophene and vinylpyrimidine as anchoring group have been studied for dye-sensitized solar cells. The bithiophene based dye shows higher extinction coefficients and smaller transition energy, as well as broader absorption spectrum. The photovoltaic parameters of cells based on these vinylpyrimidine dyes are enhanced over 1000 h.

Functionalized carbon dots on TiO2 for perovskite photovoltaics and stable photoanodes for water splitting

A. Anson-Casaos et al.

Summary: Various types of carbon dots synthesized using different methods show improved performance in photovoltaics and photoelectrochemical water splitting. Nitrogen carbon dots increase the open circuit voltage of perovskite solar cells, while thiol-functionalized and butyl chain-functionalized carbon dots exhibit better photocurrent in water splitting. The modified electrode is stable under continuous operation, with improved incident photon to current conversion efficiency.

The type-II n-n inorganic/organic nano-heterojunction of Ti3+ self-doped TiO2 nanorods and conjugated co-polymers for photoelectrochemical water splitting and photocatalytic dye degradation

Nani Gopal Ghosh et al.

Summary: This article reports the synthesis of two organic semiconductors coupled with Ti3+ self-doped TiO2 nanorods to create type-II n-n inorganic/organic nano-heterostructures. These nano-heterostructures not only enhance visible-light absorption but also improve the delocalization and transportation of photogenerated carriers due to advantageous band alignments. The organic semiconductors exhibit better photoelectrochemical performances than Ti3+/TiO2 NRs, with TP1 NHs showing the highest photocatalytic efficiency.
