Modified FMEA hazard identification for cross-country petroleum pipeline using Fuzzy Rule Base and approximate reasoning

Shamsu Hassan et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a new approach, called modified FMEA, to overcome the identified limitations in the traditional Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) technique. By integrating hybrid FMEA with Fuzzy Rule Base (FRB) and FMEA with Grey Relations Theory (GRT), the new approach offers a more effective method for risk analysis in cross-country petroleum product pipeline systems.

What Determine the Corporate Tax Rates During the COVID-19? Evidence From 113 Countries

Ronghua Li et al.

Summary: The fiscal policy implications during the COVID-19 pandemic are important to mitigate its negative consequences. This paper examines the factors influencing corporate tax rates during this period in 113 advanced and developing economies. The results suggest that higher COVID-19-related uncertainty and larger country size are associated with higher corporate tax rates. Per capita income is negatively related to corporate tax rates, although this evidence is not sufficient to consider different estimation techniques. The paper also discusses potential fiscal policy implications for post-COVID-19 era.

Identification of Factors Affecting Risk Appetite of Organizations in Selection of Mega Construction Projects

Sanna Ullah et al.

Summary: Risk appetite is an important component in project risk management decision-making process. However, it has received little attention in scholarly research. This study explores the factors affecting risk appetite in the selection of mega construction projects. The identified factors include financial attributes, board of directors' agility, political factors, project location, and demographics. Understanding these factors can help construction project organizations evaluate risk appetite and reduce the risk of project failures, delays, and cost overruns.

A New Model for Failure Mode and Effect Analysis Integrating Linguistic Z-Numbers and Projection Method

Jia Huang et al.

Summary: A new FMEA model combining linguistic Z-numbers and an extended projection method is proposed in this article to enhance the inherent characteristics of FMEA. Through a practical risk evaluation case of aircraft landing system, the results show that this model can accurately depict experts' risk evaluation information and obtain more accurate risk prioritization of failure modes.

A New Integrated Approach for Risk Evaluation and Classification With Dynamic Expert Weights

Hu-Chen Liu et al.

Summary: Failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA) is a widely used proactive reliability management technique in various industries, but traditional methods have weaknesses in real-life scenarios. This article proposes a novel FMEA approach using hesitant uncertain linguistic Z numbers (HULZNs) and the density-based spatial clustering of applications with noise (DBSCAN) algorithm to assess and cluster the risk of failure modes effectively. The method improves the traditional FMEA approach by incorporating uncertain risk evaluation information and dynamically adjusting the weights of FMEA experts.
