Physico-chemical and mechanical characterization of bambusa vulgaris fibers from Cameroon

N. R. Sikame Tagne et al.

Summary: This study focused on characterizing the bambusa vulgaris fibers from Cameroon (BV), evaluating their linear density, moisture uptake, degradation temperature, Young's moduli, bending behavior, and creep properties. The research found that BV fibers exhibit different physical properties, showing variations in characteristics such as diameter, thermal degradation temperature, and mechanical properties from inside to outside. The study also demonstrated that a 4-element Burger model can effectively predict the creep behavior and fatigue performance of BV fibers reinforced composites.

Palm Fibers Residues from Agro-industries as Reinforcement in Biopolymer Filaments for 3D-printed Scaffolds

Noelle Zanini et al.

Summary: The study showed that using PHBV biocomposites filled with bleached fibers of palm residues for 3D printing of scaffolds has the advantages of biodegradability, biocompatibility, and non-toxicity, while also promoting reuse of agricultural residues and by-products. The addition of bleached BFPR to PHBV enhanced cell viability, improved wettability, and slightly increased nanohardness. The composite scaffolds had an interconnected porous structure with a pore size of about 900μm and a filling rate of 60%.
