Visible-light-driven photocatalytic degradation of ofloxacin by g-C3N4/NH2-MIL-88B(Fe) heterostructure: Mechanisms, DFT calculation, degradation pathway and toxicity evolution

Qi Su et al.

Summary: In this study, g-C3N4/NH2-MIL-88B(Fe) (MCN-x) heterostructures were successfully prepared and exhibited excellent degradation performance towards ofloxacin under visible light. The introduction of g-C3N4 in MCN-60 composite notably promoted the separation of photogenerated electron-hole pairs, leading to efficient photocatalytic activity.

Achieving high selectivity for nitrate electrochemical reduction to ammonia over MOF-supported RuxOy clusters

Jiangzhou Qin et al.

Summary: Nitrate electroreduction to ammonia is a sustainable alternative strategy for ammonia synthesis and water pollution control. The design of efficient catalysts for selective conversion of nitrate to ammonia is highly needed. In this work, RuxOy clusters stabilized on nickel metal-organic frameworks are reported as catalysts with nearly 100% ammonia selectivity and high yield rates. The theoretical calculations show the potential of this novel strategy for green ammonia synthesis.

Visible-light-enhanced Cr (VI) reduction and bioelectricity generation at MXene photocathode in photoelectrocatalytic microbial fuel cells

Qi Yang et al.

Summary: Photocatalysis coupled with microbial fuel cell (Photo-MFC) is a promising technology that can reduce pollutants and generate power using wastewater under visible light. The study found that using ultrathin MXenes nanosheets as catalysts can enhance the performance of the photocathode and increase the efficiency of Cr (VI) reduction. The MXenes-modified photocathode under visible light achieved a higher power density compared to traditional photocathodes. This technology provides an efficient way to remove Cr (VI) pollution in water environments.
