Secondary organic aerosol formation from straw burning using an oxidation flow reactor

Hui Wang et al.

Summary: In this study, the formation of secondary organic aerosol (SOA) from wheat straw burning was investigated using a Gothenburg: Potential Aerosol Mass (Go: PAM) reactor. The study found that the water content had significant effects on the flaming stage but not on the non-flaming stage. Furthermore, the enhancement ratio of OA was higher during the non-flaming stages, and the mass spectrum of primary wheat burning organic aerosols resembled that of resolved biomass burning organic aerosols (BBOA).

Investigating the Influence of Metal-Organic Framework Loading on the Filtration Performance of Electrospun Nanofiber Air Filters

Zhuolun Niu et al.

Summary: This study investigates the influence of reaction time on the filtration performance of PAN/ZIF-67 hybrid nanofiber filters. It finds that the surface morphology and chemical composition of the filters change with the reaction time. A reaction time of 5 minutes is sufficient for achieving the maximum efficiency of ZIF-67 for filters with relatively low initial filtration efficiency. However, for filters with high initial filtration efficiency, the integration of ZIF-67 is not necessary.

Fabrication of fibrous MXene nanoribbons (MNRs) membrane with efficient performance for oil-water separation

Zhengyi Huang et al.

Summary: Oily wastewater discharge from industrial activities and oil spills has had a significant impact on human health and the global environment. Membrane separation is a promising solution for oily wastewater treatment, and this study successfully prepared a novel membrane by combining fibrous MXene nano-ribbons with mixed cellulose. The resulting MCE-MNRs membrane exhibited outstanding oil-water separation performance, with high water permeance and over 99% rejection rates for various oil-water mixtures. The membrane's excellent performance is attributed to the formation of a water layer during filtration, which allows water to pass through freely but blocks oil droplets.
