Summary: In this study, a hybrid catalyst was introduced, which exhibited better stability and sulfur tolerance during SO2 aging. The hybrid catalyst achieved the direct migration of ammonium bisulfate from the vanadia domain to the alumina domain through physical contact, rather than gas-phase adsorption. An experimental and modelling study of the Selective Non-Catalytic Reduction (SNCR) of NOx and NH3 in a cyclone reactor

Casper S. Svith et al.

Summary: The Selective Non-Catalytic Reduction (SNCR) process was investigated in a bench scale cyclone reactor through experiments and modelling. The results showed that high NO reduction and NH3/NO ratios can be achieved under specific operating conditions. The models were able to qualitatively predict the trends of NO reduction and ammonia slip, although the ammonia slip was over-predicted in most cases. Temperature and kinetics had a significant impact on the outlet concentrations. The compartment model accurately reproduced the cyclone's NO concentration profiles and provided a qualitative prediction of the NH3 profiles. The choice of bypass fractions had a significant influence on the ammonia profiles.

Assessing environmental impact of NOX and SO2 emissions in textiles production with chemical footprint

Yiqi Guo et al.

Summary: Air pollution, caused by pollutants such as nitrogen oxide (NOX) and sulfur dioxide (SO2), has a significant impact on human health and the environment. The textile industry, which emits large quantities of NOX and SO2 during production, is facing enormous environmental pressure. This study proposes a Chemical Footprint (ChF) assessment method using the USEtox model to evaluate NOX and SO2 emissions from textile production. The results demonstrate that NOX emissions in Zhejiang's textile industry cause approximately eight times more ChF than SO2 emissions. The textile manufacturing sector has the largest ChF, accounting for 73% of the total ChF caused by NOX and SO2 emissions.

Summary: This study investigates the primary atomization of liquid transverse jets in subsonic crossflow using Large Eddy Simulation (LES) and interface tracking methods. The results show that the shear action of gas and liquid leads to the generation of Kelvin-Helmholtz (KH) unstable wave and Rayleigh-Taylor (RT) unstable wave, where the KH surface wave dominates the surface breaking of the jet column and the RT surface wave dominates the fracture of the jet column.

Effects of the inlet duct length on the flow field and performance of a cyclone separator with a contracted inlet duct

Yuge Yao et al.

Summary: The length of the inlet duct may affect the gas flow field and performance of a cyclone separator, with longer ducts leading to higher tangential gas velocity but lower pressure drop and separation efficiency. Expansion loss at the inlet and friction loss inside the cyclone body contribute to the reduction of pressure drop as the inlet duct length increases, with minimal effect once the length is 1.5 times the cylinder diameter.

Treatment of CS2 in waste gas from rubber refining by gas cyclone-liquid jet separator

Liwang Wang et al.

Summary: The study found that lowering the absorption solution temperature and increasing the liquid phase velocity can enhance the removal effect of CS2, but simply increasing the mass transfer coefficient does not guarantee a higher absorption efficiency. Experimental verification showed that the highest efficiency of 94.05% was obtained at an intake air flow rate of 18 l/min. The gas cyclone-liquid jet separator has been successfully applied for the first time to remove CS2 from waste gas from the rubber industry, significantly reducing treatment costs and showing excellent application prospects.
