Thiol-decorated covalent organic frameworks as multifunctional materials for high-performance supercapacitors and heterogeneous catalysis

Dawid Pakulski et al.

Summary: The tunable physicochemical properties and high stability of covalent organic frameworks (COFs) make them promising candidates for the next generation of energy storage systems. This study focuses on the integration of redox-active moieties (thiols) into COFs and demonstrates their enhanced performance as electrochemical supercapacitors. The researchers synthesized two thiol-decorated COFs (SH-COF-1 and SH-COF-2) and found that SH-COF-1 exhibited higher surface area and improved electrochemical performance compared to previous COFs without redox-active units. Additionally, the presence of thiol groups in the COFs allowed for the in situ growth of gold nanoparticles, which were utilized as heterogeneous catalysts with excellent catalytic activity and long-term performance.

Electro-enhanced solid-phase microextraction with covalent organic framework modified stainless steel fiber for efficient adsorption of bisphenol A

Yue-Hong Pang et al.

Summary: In this study, electro-enhanced solid-phase microextraction (EE-SPME) and covalent organic framework (COF) were employed to enhance the extraction efficiency of bisphenol A (BPA). The DQTP bonded fiber coupled with EE-SPME device showed higher extraction efficiency compared to conventional SPME. Quantitative determination of BPA in food packagings was achieved with recoveries ranging from 88.6 to 118.0%.
