Analysis of amyloid-like secondary structure in the Cryab-R120G knock-in mouse model of hereditary cataracts by two-dimensional infrared spectroscopy

Ariel M. Alperstein et al.

Summary: Alpha B-crystallin is a small heat shock protein that can form aggregates in cataracts and Alzheimer's disease. The R120G mutation in this protein is associated with hereditary cataracts and myopathy, and studying the secondary structures of these aggregates is important for understanding disease mechanisms and developing treatments. The 2DIR spectroscopy study confirmed the presence of amyloid-like secondary structures in Cryab-R120G knock-in mice with cataracts, supporting the use of this model for studying age-related cataract disease.
