Summary: This study assessed the 3-dimensional structure of fused CsgA subunit and MFP3 protein using molecular simulation and prediction, followed by in vitro verification. It found that acidic conditions positively affect the adhesive strength of the fused protein based on comparative structure-based analyses. Atomic force microscopy analysis confirmed the enhanced adhesive properties of the fused protein after self-assembly in low pH conditions.

Immunoinformatics-guided designing of epitope-based subunit vaccine from Pilus assembly protein of Acinetobacter baumannii bacteria

Soumya Ranjan Mahapatra et al.

Summary: This study aimed to characterize the pilus assembly protein of A. baumannii and identify potential epitopes for vaccine development. Multiple antigenic B and T cell epitopes were recognized using bioinformatics tools, and selected based on their binding efficiency. A vaccine chimera was created by linking these epitopes with appropriate linkers and adjuvant. Homology modeling, molecular docking, and immune simulation were carried out to validate the efficacy of the vaccine construct.
