SNP characteristics and validation success in genome wide association studies

Olga Y. Gorlova et al.

Summary: This study aimed to identify SNP features associated with validation success in GWAS. Results showed that the level of statistical significance and effect size in the discovery GWAS were the strongest predictors of validation success. The risk allele frequencies, location, and evolutionary conservation of SNPs also affected the validation success rate. Additionally, targeting the same ethnicity in the discovery and validation GWASs resulted in a higher validation success rate.

In Silico Analysis Identified Putative Pathogenic Missense nsSNPs in Human SLITRK1 Gene

Muhammad Zeeshan Ali et al.

Summary: This study prioritized the pathogenic variants in the SLITRK1 gene using bioinformatics tools. The variants had very low frequency in the global population and showed decreased protein stability in 10 out of all the variants. The 3D structure analysis revealed potential structural loss in three variants, which may affect the functional activity of the SLITRK1 protein.
