Optical interface for a hybrid magnon-photon resonator

Banoj Kumar Nayak et al.

Summary: We study the optical detection of magnetic resonance in a ferrimagnetic sphere resonator that is strongly coupled to a microwave loop gap resonator. Optical fibers are used to couple the sphere resonator with light in the telecom band. We find that magnetic resonance can be optically detected near the anti-crossing region between the loop gap and ferrimagnetic resonances, with the detection bandwidth limited by the ferrimagnetic damping rate.

Inverse Faraday Effect in an Optomagnonic Waveguide

Na Zhu et al.

Summary: This study introduces a planar optomagnonic waveguide platform based on a ferrimagnetic insulator that supports both magnons and highly confined optical modes. The enhanced interaction between spin and light waves allows for the excitation of magnons by an effective magnetic field generated by interacting optical photons.

Cavity magnonics

Babak Zare Rameshti et al.

Summary: Cavity magnonics explores the interaction between magnons and confined electromagnetic fields, offering strong magnon-photon coupling and nonlinear behavior in microwave cavities. This field has the potential to be integrated into future quantum technologies. Magnetic optical resonators enhance the interaction between magnons and light, enabling magnon cooling and heating. The coupling between a magnon mode and a superconducting qubit in a microwave cavity allows for measurements in the single magnon limit.

Quantum measurement with recycled photons

Eyal Buks et al.

Summary: This study presents a device consisting of an optical interferometer integrated with a ferrimagnetic sphere resonator (FSR) to manipulate entanglement between optical pulses. The device is designed to measure the lifetime of macroscopic entangled states in an environment with negligible decoherence. The proposed experiment provides insight into the quantum to classical transition associated with measurement processes.

Light propagation and magnon-photon coupling in optically dispersive magnetic media

V. A. S. V. Bittencourt et al.

Summary: This article presents a detailed derivation of the magnon-photon coupling Hamiltonian in dispersive media, showing the potential for achieving strong coupling between magnons and light in a magnetized epsilon-near-zero (ENZ) medium. It also explores the possibility of eliminating the coupling by tuning polarization selection rules through dispersion.

Quantum Network with Magnonic and Mechanical Nodes

Jie Li et al.

Summary: The study proposes a quantum network consisting of magnonic and mechanical nodes connected by light. It demonstrates the transfer of magnonic states to and storage in distant mechanical resonators using optical pulses, as well as the preparation of magnonic and mechanical nodes in macroscopic entangled states. This work shows the potential to connect optomagnonics and optomechanics fields and build a long-distance quantum network based on magnonic and mechanical systems.

Thermal instability in a ferrimagnetic resonator strongly coupled to a loop-gap microwave cavity

Cijy Mathai et al.

Summary: In this study, we investigated the nonlinear response of a ferrimagnetic sphere resonator strongly coupled to a microwave loop-gap resonator, and found that the system exhibits instability within a certain range of driving parameters, leading to self-sustained modulation of the reflected power. This instability is attributed to absorption-induced heating of the ferrimagnetic sphere resonator above its Curie temperature.

Sum-frequency excitation of coherent magnons

Dominik M. Juraschek et al.

Summary: The study explores mechanisms for coherent excitation of magnons through sum-frequency components of the driving field, showing that efficiencies comparable or higher than established Raman techniques can be achieved using linearly polarized driving fields. Elliptical polarizations, on the other hand, produce weaker effects.
