Hui Zhang et al.

Summary: This study comprehensively investigates the evolution of the Griffiths phase (GP) in La1-xBaxMnO3 compounds with different lattice distortions, and its impact on magnetic properties, electrical transport, magnetoresistance, and magnetocaloric effect. Giant magnetocaloric effect and magnetic properties of nanocomposites of manganite Nd1-xSrxMnO3 (0.0 ≤ x ≤ 0.8) synthesized using modified sol-gel method

I. Z. Al-Yahmadi et al.

Summary: The study investigated the magnetocaloric effect in an array of nanocomposites manganite Nd1-xSrxMnO3, where the replacement of Nd3+ by Sr2+ influenced the structure and enhanced magnetic properties. All samples exhibited ferromagnetic to paramagnetic transition with increasing temperature and showed phase transitions, except Nd0.6Sr0.4MnO3, which exhibited a peak Curie temperature near room temperature. The Nd0.6Sr0.4MnO3 nanocomposite showed a relatively giant value of magnetic entropy, making it a potential material for magnetic cooling applications.

The intrinsic exchange bias effect in the LaMnO3 and LaFeO3 compounds

Abd El-Moez A. Mohamed et al.

Summary: This study investigated the magnetic and intrinsic exchange bias properties of LaMnO3 and LaFeO3 perovskite compounds. The compounds showed antiferromagnetic nature with observed anomalous ferromagnetic behavior. The presence of the ferromagnetic component, coupled with the antiferromagnetic phase, led to the exchange bias effect in both compounds.

Summary: Nanograin polycrystalline Nd1-xCaxMnO3 +/-delta (x = 0; 0.15; 0.25) with orthorhombic structure were obtained by mechanical activation with an average crystallite size of 10-30 nm. Grain growth was found to be kinetically hindered in Ca-doped compositions despite the lower activation energy.

Striping of orbital-order with charge-disorder in optimally doped manganites

Wei-Tin Chen et al.

Summary: The phase diagrams of LaMnO3 perovskites have been intensively studied due to colossal magnetoresistance exhibited around the 3th/8 doping level. Phase segregation between ferromagnetic metallic and antiferromagnetic insulating states prevents a complete understanding of the orbital ordered state at this doping level. Through crystallographic analysis, it was found that the superposition of two distinct lattice modes leads to a striping of Mn3+ and Mn3.5+ layers, ultimately causing cancellation of Jahn-Teller-like displacements at the critical doping level and melting of long range orbital order.

Prospects for application of ferroelectric manganites with controlled vortex density

Heidemarie Schmidt

Summary: There is an urgent need for multifunctional materials that can reduce the energy demands of microelectronic devices. The ferroelectric manganites have shown the spontaneous formation of 1D closed and open loop vortices, making them applicable in various fields such as artificial intelligence, light-emitting materials, and thermoelectrics. It is expected that these materials are highly conducting at room temperature.

Summary: By integrating Pt/LMO heterostructure, this study investigates emergent phenomena at interfaces, revealing unexpected ferromagnetic behavior, spin glass state, and exchange bias effect. The relationship among these phenomena is explained by the coupling between the spin glass and antiferromagnetic phases.

Summary: The synthesized lanthanoid manganese oxide nanoparticles displayed a strong correlation between crystal structure and magnetic properties. The effects of particle size on these properties varied due to different atomic radii of the lanthanoid ions. As particle size decreased, changes in magnetic properties were observed, influenced by the strain of MnO6 octahedra and the magnetic ordering state.

Symmetry mode analysis of distorted polar/nonpolar structures in A-site ordered SmBaMn2O6 perovskite

Summary: In this study, the charge-orbital ordering and magnetic phase transitions in A-site ordered SmBaMn2O6 perovskite were investigated using synchrotron radiation x-ray powder diffraction and symmetry-adapted modes analysis. Successive phase transitions in charge, spin, and lattice degrees of freedom were observed with decreasing temperature. The two charge-ordered phases show differences in their stacking sequence along the c axis, leading to controversy in the literature.
