Silicon cuboid nanoantenna with simultaneous large Purcell factor for electric dipole, magnetic dipole and electric quadrupole emission

Qiurong Deng et al.

Summary: The study introduces a silicon dielectric cuboid nanoantenna for enhancing electric dipole, magnetic dipole, and electric quadrupole emission simultaneously. By analyzing the scattering cross section, polarization charge distribution, and electromagnetic field distribution, simultaneous existence of resonance modes in the nanoantenna is identified. The maximum Purcell factors for ED, MD, and EQ emitters are found to be 18, 150, and 118 respectively, occurring at resonance wavelengths within the visible range.

High-Q resonances governed by the quasi-bound states in the continuum in all-dielectric metasurfaces

Cizhe Fang et al.

Summary: The study reports the realization of high-Q resonances in a silicon metasurface with various broken-symmetry blocks, where sharp resonances originate from symmetry-protected bound in the continuum (BIC) and are dominated by magnetic dipoles. By tuning the structural parameter through modulating the topological configuration of BICs, a Q factor of more than 3,000 can be easily achieved at sharp resonances. This may open up new avenues for ultrasharp resonances in potential meta-devices for nonlinearity, lasing action, and sensing.
