Effect of size and disorder on martensitic phase transition and thermal hysteresis in milled Ni-Mn-In-Co microparticles

Greta Cavazzini et al.

Summary: Microparticles of Ni45.7Mn36.6In13.5Co4.2 were prepared using different grinding methods and annealing treatments were applied to recover the original martensitic transition and magnetic properties. The particle size was significantly reduced after milling and the morphology, crystal structure, and magnetic properties were strongly influenced by milling temperature, time, and medium. High-temperature annealing treatments could recover both magnetic and magneto-structural phase transitions. The study highlights the importance of microstructural features, atomic order, and chemical homogeneity in determining the magneto-structural properties of the NiMnInCo compound.

Kinetic arrest of the ferromagnetic state in Mn3GaC and Ni2MnGa composite mixtures

K. R. Priolkar et al.

Summary: The addition of a small amount of Heusler Ni2MnGa to Mn3GaC can arrest the kinetics of the ferromagnetic to antiferromagnetic transition and tune the magnetic properties. The strong interaction between the two phases in the mixture allows for control and tunability over the properties of such magneto-structurally transforming materials.

Achievement of promising cryogenic magnetocaloric performances in La1-xPrxFe12B6 compounds

Zhipan Ma et al.

Summary: The addition of a small amount of Pr to La1-xPrxFe12B6 compounds greatly enhances the peak values in magnetic entropy change curves, especially under low magnetic field changes. With increasing x, the peak temperature increases gradually and magnetic hysteresis reduces.

Structural, magnetic and theoretical investigation of the magnetocaloric effect of La0.6Sr0.4MnO3/x(Sb2O3) compound

M. Nasri et al.

Summary: The structural and magnetocaloric properties of perovskite manganite composites (La0.6Sr0.4MnO3)/x(Sb2O3) (LSMO/Sb2O3) (x = 0.07 and 0.18) synthesized by the solid-state reaction method were reported. X-ray diffraction confirmed the formation of both phases in the composites. Magnetic measurements showed that Sb2O3 mainly segregates at the grain boundaries of LSMO, with the magnetic entropy change increasing with increasing Sb2O3 content.
