Self-Assembly of Hausmannite Mn3O4 Triangular Structures on Cocosin Protein Scaffolds for High Energy Density Symmetric Supercapacitor Application

Johnbosco Yesuraj et al.

Summary: Recent advances have shown that using biological scaffolds for nanoparticle synthesis is useful in preparing nanostructures with uniform shape and size. The cocosin protein, derived from coconut fruit, has been studied as a scaffold for synthesizing Mn3O4 materials. The protein has been found to interact with manganese ions, resulting in a hexamer structure for the Mn3O4 material. Additionally, the cocosin-Mn3O4 material exhibits high specific capacitance and cyclic stability in electrochemical supercapacitors, making it a promising electrode for energy storage applications.
