Direct regeneration of hydrogels based on lemon peel and its isolated microcrystalline cellulose: Characterization and application for methylene blue adsorption

Hongjie Dai et al.

Summary: This study developed a facile and eco-friendly method for fabricating hydrogels using lemon peel and microcrystalline cellulose. The introduction of lemon peel increased the porosity and thermal stability of the hydrogels, enhancing the adsorption capacity for methylene blue. The adsorption process of methylene blue on the hydrogels followed pseudo-second-order kinetic and Langmuir isotherm models and was influenced by various factors such as initial concentration, pH, temperature, and ionic strength.

Recent advances in heterogeneous micro-photoreactors for wastewater treatment application

Komal Shukla et al.

Summary: Micro-photoreactor is a miniaturized photoreactor that combines the advantages of microfluidics with traditional photoreactors, allowing for efficient wastewater treatment. It requires small quantities of photocatalyst material and offers features like high surface to volume ratio and better control of reaction parameters. The thin layer of photocatalyst in the microreactor enables less photon loss and uniform light distribution, making it suitable for photocatalytic wastewater treatment applications.
