Improved microstructure and significantly enhanced dielectric properties of Al3+/Cr3+/Ta5+ triple-doped TiO2 ceramics by Re-balancing charge compensation

Porntip Siriya et al.

Summary: The research shows that the charge compensation mechanism and doping ratio play a significant role in controlling the dielectric properties of (AlxCr0.05-x)Ta0.05Ti0.9O2 ceramics. Triple doping with Al3+ can greatly increase the dielectric permittivity by rebalancing the charge compensation, while maintaining a low loss tangent. The enhanced dielectric properties of the ceramics are primarily attributed to the interfacial polarization at the interface between semiconductor and insulating grains.

Microstructure, low loss tangent, and excellent temperature stability of Tb+Sb-doped TiO2 with high dielectric permittivity

Noppakorn Thanamoon et al.

Summary: The study investigates the colossal permittivity (CP) properties of (Tb3+/4++Sb5+) co-doped TiO2 (TSTO) ceramics. The findings reveal the extremely high dielectric constant, low loss tangent, and temperature stability of the TSTO ceramics. The presence of grains, grain boundaries, and microwave dielectric phases in the TSTO ceramic determines its dielectric behavior. The study also explains the appearance of semiconducting grains induced by Ti3+ via X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy.

Synthesis of (La plus Nb) co-doped TiO2 rutile nanoparticles and dielectric properties of their derived ceramics composed of submicron-sized grains

Jingxuan Li et al.

Summary: In this study, nanometer-sized rutile (La + Nb) co-doped TiO2 powders were synthesized using a sol-gel method to prepare ceramics with grain sizes less than 200 nm. The effect of co-doping concentration on microstructures and dielectric properties was investigated, with a 2% co-doping concentration showing high dielectric permittivity and low dielectric loss. The electron hopping and electron-pinned defect-dipole effect were considered as the main reasons for the excellent dielectric properties observed in the co-doped TiO2 ceramics.

Good dielectric performance and broadband dielectric polarization in Ag, Nb co-doped TiO2

Summary: In this study, Ag+/Nb5+ co-doped TiO2 ceramics with colossal permittivity over a wide frequency and temperature range were successfully prepared, showing low dielectric loss, high dielectric permittivity, and good thermal stability. The giant dielectric permittivity in these ceramics was mainly attributed to electron-pinned defect-dipoles and internal barrier layer capacitance.

First-principles calculations and experimental study of enhanced nonlinear and dielectric properties of Sn4+-doped CaCu2.95Mg0.05Ti4O12 ceramics

Jakkree Boonlakhorn et al.

Summary: By doping Sn4+, high dielectric permittivity and low loss tangent were achieved in CaCu2.95Mg0.05Ti4O12 ceramics, along with improvements in breakdown electric field and nonlinear coefficient. Reduction in the Cu+/Cu2+ ratio led to increased resistivities of grains and grain boundaries, resulting in improved nonlinear electrical properties.
