The role of BBS2 in regulating adipogenesis and the association of its sequence variants with meat quality in Qinchuan cattle

Feng Long et al.

Summary: This study explores the role of the BBS2 gene in fat deposition of beef cattle and identifies SNPs associated with meat quality traits. It finds that the expression of BBS2 is negatively correlated with marbling ratios in beef cattle. Knockdown of BBS2 promotes adipogenesis and lipid accumulation in bovine preadipocytes. Several SNPs in the exons of BBS2 are significantly associated with meat quality in Chinese Qinchuan cattle. These findings have implications for improving meat quality and breeding in beef cattle.

Genome-Wide Analysis of microRNAs Identifies the Lipid Metabolism Pathway to Be a Defining Factor in Adipose Tissue From Different Sheep

Tian-Yi Liu et al.

Summary: In this study, transcriptome analysis of miRNAs in the subcutaneous adipose tissue of Duolang sheep and Small Tail Han sheep was performed. Differentially expressed miRNAs were identified and target genes were predicted. GO and KEGG analysis showed that the regulation of lipolysis in adipocytes plays a key role in the deposition of subcutaneous adipose tissue in these two sheep breeds. The results provide insights into the mechanism of subcutaneous adipose tissue deposition and have implications for improving meat production performance in sheep and promoting the development of animal husbandry.
