Paleoproterozoic to Cenozoic zircon U-Pb ages with Hf signatures from metamorphic rocks and granodiorite of Tokunoshima: constraints on the geotectonic subdivision of the Ryukyu island arc, Southwest Japan

Hiroshi Yamamoto et al.

Summary: LA-ICP-MS U-Pb and Hf isotope analysis of zircons from the metamorphic unit of Omo Formation and a granodiorite body in the Amami Islands, Southwest Japan revealed reworking of older continental crust during the Early Jurassic period and a correlation between the Omo Formation and Cathaysia of the South China block. The analysis also showed juvenile magmatic activity in the granodiorite intrusion and the crystallization of zircon grains in the host rocks.

Zircon trace-element compositions in Miocene granitoids in Japan: Discrimination diagrams for zircons in M-, I-, S-, and A-type granites

Yusuke Sawaki et al.

Summary: Detrital zircons show high resistance to alteration, allowing them to retain valuable information about their formation ages and parental magmas over time. By analyzing trace-element compositions of zircons in different types of granites, researchers can distinguish between M-, I-, S-, and A-type granites based on specific ratios such as Nb/P, Ta/P, Ce/P, Ce/Nd, as well as Sc/Yb ratios and Eu anomaly. These findings provide insights into the origins and characteristics of zircons in granitic rocks.

The δ13C-δ18O variations in marble in the Hida Belt, Japan

Hironobu Harada et al.

Summary: The study reveals significant variations in carbon and oxygen isotopes of marble under mid-crustal conditions, potentially influenced by decarbonation reactions and interactions with external fluids and/or silicates. The findings suggest that upper amphibolite-facies conditions, such as the Hida Belt, could cause modifications to the original isotope compositions of marble through decarbonation reactions.

Nature and timing of anatectic event of the Hida Belt (Japan): Constraints from titanite geochemistry and U-Pb age of clinopyroxene-bearing leucogranite

Hironobu Harada et al.

Summary: The Hida Belt is a continental fragment mainly composed of granite-gneiss complexes. Leucogranite with clinopyroxene can be found in the belt, indicating the involvement of carbonate during anatexis. Zircon-in-titanite thermometry and U/Pb isotope ratios suggest a high apparent thermal gradient and the timing of regional anatexis in the Hida Belt.

Geochronology and petrogenesis of the Late Triassic A-type granitoids in the Yeongnam Massif and its implication for Late Triassic geodynamics of northeast Asia

Byung Choon Lee et al.

Summary: The Wangdong plutons in South Korea are Late Triassic A-type granitoids formed around 226-221 Ma, with characteristics indicating an A-type granite affinity and likely forming in an extension-related tectonic setting. Through petrogeochemical, isotopic, and geochronological studies, it is concluded that these granitoids were likely produced by lithospheric mantle delamination induced by slab roll-back of the subducted Paleo-Pacific plate.

Zircon U-Pb ages and whole-rock geochemistry from the Hida granites: implications for the geotectonic history and the origin of Mesozoic granites in the Hida belt, Japan

Raiki Yamada et al.

Summary: This study conducted zircon UPb dating and whole-rock geochemical analyses for the Hida granites, revealing the geotectonic history and origins of the Hida belt. Results showed a correlation between the pre-Jurassic and Jurassic plutons, indicating difficulty in distinguishing them geochemically.
