Impact of new multiple twisted tapes on treatment of solar heat exchanger

M. Sheikholeslami et al.

Summary: This study investigates the influence of helical tapes on nanofluid turbulent flow in solar flat plate collectors and evaluates the impact of twisted tap (TT) and inlet velocity on the thermal efficiency and Darcy factor of the nanofluid flow. The results suggest that using twisted tapes significantly improves heat transfer efficiency.

Nanoparticles transportation with turbulent regime through a solar collector with helical tapes

M. Sheikholeslami et al.

Summary: This study proposes the use of hybrid nanomaterials, including fin and helical turbulator, to enhance the efficiency of the absorber unit. The results of numerical simulations show that increasing the diameter of circular gaps facilitates fluid movement, reduces pressure loss, and improves the mixing of hot and cold fluids. As the pitch factor decreases, the rotation of helical tapes increases, leading to an increase in the number of circular gaps. The temperature of the absorber plate decreases with increasing Reynolds number, while it increases with the augmentation of the diameter of circular gaps and the pitch factor.

Thermal improvement of linear Fresnel solar system utilizing Al2O3-water nanofluid and multi-way twisted tape

M. Sheikholeslami et al.

Summary: In this study, the thermal treatment of Linear Fresnel Reflector (LFR) unit was enhanced by the application of multi-way twisted tape (MWTT). Finite volume simulations were used to predict the flow and thermal performance, and SolTrace and ANSYS FLUET were used to extract the distribution of absorb flux. The results showed that the rotation, width, and number of wings of the twisted tape significantly affected the fluid flow and thermal efficiency.

Hydrothermal analysis for a parabolic solar unit with wavy absorber pipe and nanofluid

M. Sheikholeslami et al.

Summary: This article presents a numerical simulation for the thermal analysis of a parabolic trough collector (PTC) with a wavy absorber tube using the finite volume method. The study investigates the performance of a new wavy absorber tube in a solar system with a parabolic reflector. The results show that increasing the Reynolds number (Re) and the volume concentration can improve the heat transfer efficiency.

Influence of novel turbulator on efficiency of solar collector system

M. Sheikholeslami et al.

Summary: This article introduces a method to improve the efficiency of solar energy systems by using hybrid nanomaterials and special shape of turbulator in the pipe. The study found that inserting turbulator can increase radial velocity, disrupt isotherms, and enhance convective flow. Experimental results demonstrate the improvement of the performance of solar energy systems with this approach.
