Diagnostic delay of endometriosis in adults and adolescence-current stage of knowledge

Monika Wrobel et al.

Summary: This article provides a modern perspective on the diagnosis of endometriosis, with a focus on the role of ultrasound examination. It discusses the importance of ultrasound examination and the patients' perspective on the diagnostic process. The use of questionnaires and extended ultrasound examination can help determine the risk of endometriosis and decrease diagnostic delay.

Molecular Mechanisms Underlying the Association between Endometriosis and Ectopic Pregnancy

Julia Zalecka et al.

Summary: Endometriosis is a common inflammatory disease that can cause chronic pelvic pain and infertility. One of its most serious complications is ectopic pregnancy, and the exact mechanism behind it is still unknown.

The Role of Cadherin 12 (CDH12) in the Peritoneal Fluid among Patients with Endometriosis and Endometriosis-Related Infertility

Ksawery Golawski et al.

Summary: This study compared the levels of CDH 12 in the peritoneal fluid between women with and without endometriosis. The results showed that CDH 12 levels were significantly higher in patients with infertility or primary infertility and endometriosis compared to patients without endometriosis and without infertility or primary infertility. CDH 12 may play a role in the pathogenesis of infertility, both in women with and without endometriosis.

Plasma and Peritoneal Poly (ADP-Ribose) Polymerase Levels in Patients with Endometriosis

Joanna Kacperczyk-Bartnik et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the levels of PARP in plasma and peritoneal fluid of patients with and without endometriosis. The results showed no significant differences in PARP concentrations between patients with and without endometriosis. However, a higher plasma PARP concentration was associated with a history of infertility.

Laminin-5, Fibronectin, and Type IV Collagen as Potential Biomarkers of Brain Glioma Malignancy

Lukasz Oldak et al.

Summary: This study investigated the use of LN-5, FN, and COL IV as potential biomarkers for brain glioma. The results showed that the concentration changes of these proteins were related to the severity of the disease and had a moderate correlation with patient age. The findings suggest that these proteins may have potential clinical applications in non-invasive diagnosis and determining the grade of brain glioma.

Plasma and Peritoneal Fluid ZEB Levels in Patients with Endometriosis and Infertility

Pawel Bartnik et al.

Summary: ZEB1 and ZEB2, as transcription factors, regulate epithelial-mesenchymal transformation (EMT). However, they do not seem to have significant value in the initial diagnosis of endometriosis as single markers. Elevated plasma ZEB2 levels in infertile patients might indicate a role of EMT dysregulation in the pathogenesis of adverse fertility outcomes.

Fibronectin Molecular Status in Plasma of Women with Endometriosis and Fertility Disorders

Jolanta Lis-Kuberka et al.

Summary: The study indicates that the concentration of fibronectin in the blood plasma of women with endometriosis and fertility disorders is significantly higher than in healthy individuals. Additionally, the presence of FN-fibrin complexes of various molecular weights in the plasma of these patients suggests an increased and chronic activation of coagulation mechanisms, which may serve as a biomarker for fertility disorders in women.

Type IV collagen as a potential biomarker of metastatic breast cancer

Moa Lindgren et al.

Summary: This study found that levels of cCOLIV and cCA15-3 were significantly elevated in mBC patients, with high levels of cCOLIV correlating with poorer survival. Both cCOLIV alone and in combination with cCA15-3 were superior to cCA15-3 alone in detecting mBC. COL IV was highly expressed in the tissue of LM and BM, suggesting cCOLIV as a potential marker for monitoring BC patients.

Collagen Assembly at the Cell Surface: Dogmas Revisited

Moses Musiime et al.

Summary: Increased awareness of the importance of extracellular matrix composition has led to a renewed interest in understanding how cells recognize and remodel the matrix. Fibronectin and fibrillar collagens are key proteins in the matrix, with integrins directly anchoring cells to collagen and supporting collagen fibrillogenesis.

Endometriosis: Etiology, pathobiology, and therapeutic prospects

Philippa T. K. Saunders et al.

Summary: Endometriosis is a common condition associated with infertility that causes chronic pain in women. The exact cause and natural history are still uncertain, but hormonal, neurological, and immunological factors are believed to play a role in the development of symptoms. Current interventions have limited efficacy with high rates of symptom recurrence.
