The Interplay between the Theories of Mode Coupling and of Percolation Transition in Attractive Colloidal Systems

Francesco Mallamace et al.

Summary: This review discusses experimental and theoretical results on glass and sol-gel transitions, with a focus on the interferences between these transitions and the possible interplay between Mode-Coupling theory (MCT) and Percolation theory (PT). It shows that the interplay between these transitions can be explained by the extended F13 MCT model, which describes the presence of a glass-glass transition line terminating in an A3 cusp-like singularity. The review also applies scaling laws associated with MCT and PT to describe the specific viscoelastic properties of some systems.
