Thermal analysis of coupled vapor-cooling-shield insulation for liquid hydrogen-oxygen pair storage

Wenbing Jiang et al.

Summary: The long-term storage of liquid hydrogen-liquid oxygen pair with low heat leakage is crucial for future deep space exploration. A novel vapor-cooled shield insulation scheme is proposed for LH2-LO2 bundled tanks to achieve optimal performance. Experimental validation and parametric studies are conducted to analyze the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.

Testing and comparison of a thermodynamic vent system operating in different modes in a liquid nitrogen tank

Xujin Qin et al.

Summary: Thermodynamic vent system (TVS) is considered a promising method for pressure control in cryogenic propellant tanks in microgravity environments. It can operate in different modes, with experimental results showing that the MV and MO modes are more effective in cooling the ullage, while the PV mode is better at suppressing liquid temperature increase. A non-dimensional parameter eta has been proposed for comparison, with the MOMV mode performing best in reducing mass loss within 0-1500 min.
