Ti decorated heterocyclic rings for hydrogen storage

Priyanka Tavhare et al.

Summary: This study investigates and compares the hydrogen storage properties of Ti doped benzene (C6H6Ti) and Ti doped borazine (B3N3H6Ti) complexes using first-principles calculations. The results show that C6H6Ti has a higher H2 uptake capacity than B3N3H6Ti, and Ti atoms bind to C6H6 more strongly than B3N3H6. The positions and concentrations of boron and nitrogen atoms affect the H2 adsorption energy and the thermodynamically favorable range for H2 adsorption.

Tin carbide monolayers decorated with alkali metal atoms for hydrogen storage

Alma L. Marcos-Viquez et al.

Summary: This study presents a density-functional investigation of hydrogen storage in tin carbide monolayers decorated with alkali metal atoms. The results indicate that potassium exhibits the highest hydrogen-storage capacity among lithium, sodium, and potassium atoms. When certain coverage ratios of these atoms are achieved, the hydrogen-storage gravimetric capacities of the systems can surpass the recommended target set by the US Department of Energy.

An Ab-initio Study of the C18 nanocluster for Hazardous Gas Sensor Application

Shardul Vadalkar et al.

Summary: In this study, the adsorption performance of CO, NO, and NH3 gases on C-18 nanocluster was investigated using density functional theory (DFT) calculation. It was found that CO and NO molecules chemisorbed onto C-18, while NH3 molecule physisorbed. The decrease in HOMO-LUMO gap after adsorption resulted in increased conductivity, indicating the potential of C-18 nanocluster as a sensor. The fast recovery time of C-18 nanocluster for CO and NO adsorption makes it a portable and low-cost gas sensor option.

Carbyne Ring Activated Using ZnCl2 for Hydrogen Adsorption: DFT Study

Luis Alberto Desales Guzman et al.

Summary: This study investigates the feasibility of activated carbyne as a hydrogen storage material through density functional theory simulations. The results show that the chemical activation of the carbyne increases its area and enhances hydrogen sorption. Calcium atoms can bind with the carbyne, increasing the hydrogen storage capacity. Theoretical analysis and simulations confirm the potential of calcium-decorated carbyne for hydrogen storage.

Alkali and transition metal atom-functionalized germanene for hydrogen storage: A DFT investigation

Akari Narayama Sosa et al.

Summary: Density functional theory-based calculations were used to study the adsorption of H2 molecules on germanene decorated with alkali atoms (AM) and transition metal atoms (TM). The results show that the adsorption energies are in the range of physisorption, with K-decorated germanene having the largest storage capacity.

Be, Li and Sc functionalized borane B6H6 and carborane C2B4H6 for hydrogen storage: A comparison using first principles approach and molecular dynamics simulations

Ravinder Konda et al.

Summary: Hydrogen adsorption properties of functionalized closo-dicarborane and boranes were studied and compared using quantum chemical methods. More H-2 molecules were found to be adsorbed on metal functionalized carboranes than boranes, but the thermodynamics of H-2 adsorption on carboranes are unfavourable at low temperatures compared to boranes.

H2 storage and equilibrium isotope effect for Be, Li, and Ti-doped closoborate complexes

Ravinder Konda et al.

Summary: This study investigates the hydrogen uptake capacity and equilibrium isotope effect for Be, Li, and Ti-doped closoborate (B6H6) complexes using first-principles calculations. Results show the adsorption of H-2/D-2 molecules on different complexes, and the calculated equilibrium isotope effect values for each complex. The study also reveals that D-2 binds better than H-2 to the B6H6M (M = Be, Li, and Ti) complexes.

Synergistic effect of Cu decoration and N doping in divacancy defected graphene nanoribbons on hydrogen gas sensing properties: DFT study

Mehak Singla et al.

Summary: The study used density functional theory to analyze the adsorption properties of molecular hydrogen on Cu-decorated nitrogen-doped divacancy defected graphene nanoribbons, finding that increasing the concentration of nitrogen atoms can improve the adsorption capability, but efficiency significantly decreases when four nitrogen atoms are doped. Therefore, simultaneous doping of nitrogen atoms and Cu-decorated defected GNR could be suitable for hydrogen sensing applications.

Hydrogen adsorption on metal-functionalized benzene and B-substituted benzene

Priyanka Tavhare et al.

Summary: The hydrogen storage properties of metal doped benzene complexes were found to vary depending on the positions of boron atom substitution. Ti-doped boron substituted complexes showed higher H2 uptake capacity and stronger interaction with adsorbed hydrogen molecules compared to Li, Be, and Ca-doped complexes, making them promising materials for hydrogen storage.
