Synergistic effect of cyano defects and CaCO3 in graphitic carbon nitride nanosheets for efficient visible-light-driven photocatalytic NO removal

Kaining Li et al.

Summary: This paper reports a novel porous g-C3N4 nanosheet photocatalyst modified with cyano defects and CaCO3 for efficient NOx removal. The modified photocatalyst exhibits enhanced visible-light response, improved electron excitation and transfer, leading to significantly higher NO removal rate compared to pristine g-C3N4 nanosheets. The introduction of cyano defects and CaCO3 enables control over NO adsorption and activation processes, reducing the emission of toxic intermediate NO2.

Knack behind the high performance CdS/ZnS-NiS nanocomposites: Optimizing synergistic effect between cocatalyst and heterostructure for boosting hydrogen evolution

Dandan Ma et al.

Summary: Introducing a co-catalyst and constructing a heterostructure are two effective strategies in improving the photocatalytic H2 evolution performance of semiconductors. This study successfully fabricated a co-catalyst NiS decorated ZnS/CdS heterostructure for efficient photocatalytic H2 evolution from water splitting. The optimized heterostructure showed a high hydrogen evolution rate without the need for additional noble metal co-catalyst, demonstrating the synergistic effect between the heterostructure and co-catalyst. The one-pot fabrication process allowed for the formation of closely contacted interfaces and sufficient exposure of active reaction sites, leading to enhanced H2 evolution ability.

Light-assisted synthesis of Au/TiO2 nanoparticles for H2 production by photocatalytic water splitting

Naphaphan Kunthakudee et al.

Summary: A series of Au/TiO2 photocatalysts were synthesized using ethanol as the hole scavenger for H2 production by photocatalytic water splitting. The effect of solution pH on the morphology and photocatalytic activity of the photocatalysts was investigated. It was found that the Au/TiO2 photocatalysts prepared under different solution pH exhibited similar anatase fraction and TiO2 crystallite size, but varied in the quantity and size of deposited Au nanoparticles. Among all the prepared photocatalysts, Au/TiO2 (10.0) showed the highest photocatalytic activity due to its high metallic state and small size of Au nanoparticles.

Photoinduced Charge Transfer and Trapping on Single Gold Metal Nanoparticles on TiO2

Monica Luna et al.

Summary: The study explores the impact of gold nanoparticles on TiO2 during illumination with photons of energy larger than the substrate band gap. It is found that photoinduced electron transfer from TiO2 to the Au NPs increases logarithmically with light intensity due to electron trapping, hindering electron-hole recombination and enhancing photo(electro)catalytic activity.

Insights into Photocatalytic Selective Dehydrogenation of Ethanol over Au/Anatase-Rutile TiO2

Sifan Jia et al.

Summary: This study introduces Au/anatase-rutile TiO2 photocatalysts for selective dehydrogenation of ethanol under mild conditions, providing insights into the ethanol photocatalytic mechanism. The investigation reveals that different types of TiO2 in the catalyst dominate the activation of O-H bonds and facilitate the generation of DEE. Au nanoparticles distributed at the TiO2 interface show enhanced electron-hole separation efficiency, leading to improved photocatalytic activity for ethanol selective dehydrogenation. This research is crucial for understanding the reaction mechanism of photocatalytic ethanol conversion.

Photocatalytic oxidation of NO on reduction type semiconductor photocatalysts: effect of metallic Bi on CdS nanorods

Ruina Li et al.

Summary: The visible light photocatalytic oxidation of NO on CdS nanorods was significantly enhanced by in situ deposition of Bi nanoplates, which promoted the production of superoxide radicals and singlet oxygen responsible for the oxidation of NO. This study demonstrates the potential of using metallic Bi for improving the efficiency of NO removal in photocatalytic reactions.
