Methanol sono-pyrolysis for hydrogen recovery: Effect of methanol concentration under an argon atmosphere

Aissa Dehane et al.

Summary: The effect of methanol concentration on the sonochemical production of hydrogen was investigated through numerical simulations. It was found that the maximal efficiency for hydrogen yielding and the broadness of active bubbles range were obtained at methanol concentrations between 7% and 20%. However, a decrease in the active bubbles range was observed for methanol concentrations greater than 20%.

Sonochemical production of hydrogen: A numerical model applied to the recovery of aqueous methanol waste under oxygen-argonatmosphere

Kaouther Kerboua et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the treatment of wastewater contaminated with methanol by sonolysis through numerical simulation. The study shows that under specific conditions, sonolysis can efficiently degrade methanol and produce hydrogen. The best combination of parameters is found to be wastewater with 20% methanol content saturated with 70% argon, resulting in significant elimination of methanol and conversion to hydrogen.

Acoustic frequency and optimum sonochemical production at single and multi-bubble scales: A modeling answer to the scaling dilemma

Kaouther Kerboua et al.

Summary: This study adopts an innovative approach to address the scalability dilemma of the sonochemical activity dependency on acoustic frequency. Simulations reveal an absolute optimum of sonochemical production at 200 kHz, with HO• reaching its maximum molar yield at 300 kHz. Experimental findings confirm the results and show a clear rebound in the production of predominant species at 500 kHz.

Carbon tetrachloride (CCl4) sonochemistry: A comprehensive mechanistic and kinetics analysis elucidating how CCl4 pyrolysis improves the sonolytic degradation of nonvolatile organic contaminants

Aissa Dehane et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a new mechanism of carbon tetrachloride pyrolysis inside an argon bubble, taking into account factors such as heat exchange, mass transport, and chemical reactions heat. It has been found that CCl4 enhances the sonolytic degradation of nonvolatile contaminants through the formation of reactive chlorine species and an increase of (OH)-O-center dot radicals yield. The study also shows that the increase of CCl4 mole fraction inside the bubble decreases its maximal temperature but increases the chemical bubble yield.

Insight into the impact of excluding mass transport, heat exchange and chemical reactions heat on the sonochemical bubble yield: Bubble size-dependency

Aissa Dehane et al.

Summary: Numerical simulations were conducted to investigate the effects of heat conduction and chemical reactions heat on the chemical bubble yield of single acoustic bubbles. It was found that thermal conduction had a significant impact on production rates, while chemical reactions heat also played a role. Mass transport had a lesser effect on bubble yield. Additionally, the acoustic amplitude and wave frequency were found to influence production rates, with the maximum yield occurring at optimal ambient bubble sizes.

A complete analysis of the effects of transfer phenomenons and reaction heats on sono-hydrogen production from reacting bubbles: Impact of ambient bubble size

Aissa Dehane et al.

Summary: This paper examines the effects of mass transport, heat exchange, and chemical reactions on the sono-production of hydrogen under different ultrasonic conditions. It shows that the production rate of hydrogen is influenced by ultrasonic frequency and acoustic amplitude, with heat exchange having a dominant effect. The ambient bubble size of maximal response shifts towards lower values with an increase in ultrasound frequency or acoustic amplitude, leading to a narrowing in the range of active bubbles.

A comprehensive numerical analysis of heat and mass transfer phenomenons during cavitation sono-process

Aissa Dehane et al.

Summary: This study investigates the effects of mass transport, heat transfer, and chemical reactions on bubble dynamics, with findings showing how acoustic amplitude and ultrasonic frequency impact the ambient bubble radius. Heat exchange is important at lower acoustic amplitudes, while mass transport becomes dominant at higher amplitudes. The observations remain consistent for bubbles around the optimum radius, with no significant impact observed for bubbles at the lower or higher limits of the investigated ranges.
